From Wikipedia the free encyclopedia. Filter is an American rock band formed in in Cleveland , Ohio, by singer Richard Patrick and guitarist and programmer Brian Liesegang. The band was formed when Patrick desired to start his own band after leaving Nine Inch Nails as their touring guitarist. Their debut album Short Bus was released in and ended up going platinum, largely due to the success of the single ” Hey Man Nice Shot.
After Liesegang’s departure in , Patrick recorded a follow up album with the Short Bus touring band members , who became full-time members thereafter. The resulting effort, ‘s Title of Record , also went platinum driven by the success of the song ” Take a Picture. The band went into hiatus while Patrick went to rehab, and then formed a new band, Army of Anyone , which released one self-titled album.
A seventh studio album, Crazy Eyes , recorded with Patrick and another entirely new lineup, was released on April 8, In , Brian Liesegang returned to Filter to work on a new album, reBus that was meant to musically be the follow up to Short Bus. Due to the PledgeMusic bankruptcy, reBus was shelved and Patrick has since been working on a new album Murica , scheduled for release by the end of Dubbing themselves Filter, they signed to Reprise Records in and recorded their first album, Short Bus , which was released in the following year.

Birmingham Entertainment Published: Aug 2, American indie rockers My Jerusalem will preview songs from their second album, Preachers, when they headline Birmingham’s O2 Academy 3 on Tuesday 6th August. The band, who formed in , have enjoyed success throughout the USA and are now looking to build a British audience. The glue that bound the band was Jeff Klein, who had played with each of the band’s members on his solo tour.
Klein said: “I didn’t actually start out thinking of forming a band. I’d played with all of them at different times, and I was like, ‘How great would it be to play will all of these people at the same time? We clicked immediately. Preachers, the second full length album from Austin’s My Jerusalem, leads the listener on a cinematic journey through a reckless, jagged landscape of Raymond Carver-esque stories, fueled by Klein’s persuasive baritone, ominous guitars, dream-like keyboards and a deep rhythmic pulse.
Their debut album, Gone For Good, was released in to much critical acclaim. Klein added that the inspiration for the band was a collective desire to make great music: “Creativity is a muscle and if you don’t exercise it, it will atrophy. The juggling isn’t too bad. Contrary to what I’ve seen some people write, this isn’t a “side project”. It’s a living, breathing dragon with a lot of heads, arms, and feet.

The result of four-track tape trading of song ideas between singer-guitarist Solon Bixler and singer-keyboardist Rachel Stolte, with the later addition of bassist Ashley Dzerigian and drummer Davey Latter, Great Northern started as any other band might. But as their name implies, the foursome certainly aren’t complacent to stay small-time. And if they happen to change the face of what we call indie while they’re at it, they surely won’t complain either.
For starters, just look at the sounds they hybridize. When you put them together, it’s kind of darker songs but with a light at the end of the tunnel. While those may seem like ambitious and even presumptuous names to drop, one listen to the cinematic aural landscape that Great Northern paints and it’s clear that much as she does in her music, Stolte speaks nothing but the truth. It’s a process to not be afraid to show emotion and feel what you’re doing instead of trying to be cool.
Considering the genre they most closely fit into, even if only because of their locale and personal style, Stolte and her band mates are admirably integrating their epic vision into a scene she admittedly finds to be lacking substance at times. It comes from our hearts. You can sift through what’s real and what’s not, and I feel like all of us are so devoted to making these songs the best they can be and performing the best we can.
